Funded by The Getty Foundation as part of PST:LA/LA, which “takes a fresh look at vital and vibrant traditions in Latino and Latin American art through 46 exhibitions and events from San Diego to Santa Barbara opening in September 2017. While the majority of exhibitions will have an emphasis on modern and contemporary art, there also will be crucial exhibitions about the ancient world and the pre-modern era. The initiative is generating significant research on topics from luxury objects in the pre-Columbian Americas to 20th-century Afro-Brazilia art and “renegade” alternative spaces in Mexico City, in exhibitions that range from monographic studies of individual artists to broad surveys that cut across numerous countries.”
