Exhibition Curator. Mexican Special. 2025 New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival. Grandstand Exhibit. Explores the musical circuitry between Mexico and New Orleans, across the Gulf and across the border, from the 8th Cavalry Mexican Military Band, the rise of Juventino Rosas’ “Sobre las Olas,” and the history of the Tío family in the 19th century to Jelly Roll Morton in Tijuana, the Mexican and Mexican-American love of Fats Domino and Dave Bartholomew tunes to Preservation Hall playing Mexico City to Elizabeth Catlett’s bronze statue of Louis Armstrong to corridos about Katrina.
